Job summary

Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) seeks an Active Transportation Planner (Administrator V) to develop and manage multimodal transportation initiatives and program delivery from the Office of Active Transportation and Micromobility in Hanover, MD.

The role involves coordinating grants, evaluating plans, and producing mapping tools using GIS. A hybrid work schedule may be available; the candidate should possess strong writing, teamwork, and regulatory experience.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent is required.
• Six years of administrative staff or professional work experience; two years in transportation/land use planning, public policy or design; at least one year in a supervisory role.
• Experience using GIS programs (ArcGIS Desktop) to develop maps for transportation and land use planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and track plans, projects, and programs to support multimodal connectivity.
• Conduct research, provide analysis, and develop mapping tools/protocols for performance-based planning.
• Draft various types of correspondence to support office initiatives.
• Evaluate proposed legislation, plans, design documents, and funding proposals for consistency with standards and department goals.
• Develop, track, and execute grant agreements with federal, state, and local agencies in coordination with jurisdictions and the MDOT Office of Attorney General.
• Organize outreach and education strategies.
