Job summary

Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) seeks an experienced Executive Service professional to oversee consultants and in‑house design for capital highway projects in Baltimore. You will supervise engineers, review proposals, manage contracts, and ensure projects meet schedules and budgets.

The role requires a Maryland PE license within 12 months, plus 3 years in highway project management and 2 years in supervising teams. Hybrid telework options may be available.

Qualifications

• Maryland Professional Engineer license required or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Three years of highway engineering project management experience; two years supervising engineers.
• Experience reviewing highway plans, specifications and estimates.
• Two years of Federal Government experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage, plan and design complex highway–related projects including major interchanges.
• Coordinate public involvement activities: meetings, workshops, handouts and displays.
• Attend public meetings to address citizen questions related to highway projects.
• Review and evaluate technical proposals for consultant contracts.
• Contract management: monitor schedules, budgets, invoices and scope of services.
• Manage and preserve highway pavements and traffic barrier assets.
