Job summary

The State of Tennessee's Department of Transportation seeks an Active Transportation Technical Specialist to support planning, policy, and project delivery for multimodal transportation. This role collaborates with state and local partners to advance safe walking, biking, and mobility initiatives across Tennessee.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 1 year of demonstrated competency for Specialist II.
• 2 years of demonstrated competency for Specialist III.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation and ongoing coordination of active transportation programs, including updating project tracking systems, reviewing applications, and developing reports.
• Support the development and refinement of the Statewide Active Transportation Plan and VRU Safety Assessment through data collection and stakeholder engagement.
• Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders on active transportation concepts, designs, and ADA compliance.
• Participate in project development activities alongside Project Teams, including reviewing multimodal elements in project plans and field visits.
