Role overview

Cynuria is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Acquisition Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead GSA's ongoing Integrated Management of Policy and Collaborative Training (IMPACT) sessions.

This flagship training series was established in 2025 and is designed to bridge the gap between GSA's Office of Government-wide Policy (OGP) procedures and their practical application within the GSA acquisition workforce. These live, highly interactive sessions aim to equip workforce members with the knowledge and tools necessary to excel in their roles and contribute to a high-performing acquisition environment.

The Senior Acquisition SME tracks policy updates and leads training delivery.

Primary responsibilities

  • Facilitate up to 4 live training sessions per week (Tuesdays/Thursdays, approximately 1.5 hours per session), delivering targeted education and strategic guidance to the federal acquisition workforce focusing on the FAR Overhaul, GSAR Overhaul, and the Acquisition Handbook.
  • Engage directly with participants throughout each session by way of interactive knowledge checks and sharing practical, real-world acquisition examples.
  • Conduct session prep, including identifying and staging existing resources (like acquisition.gov tabs) for training delivery, creating interactive knowledge checks (e.g., Kahoot quizzes), and preparing scenario-based content to effectively field workforce questions.
  • Manage training session scheduling and administrative/tech logistics, maintain and disseminate post-session documentation/links, and answer "parking lot" questions.
  • Actively monitor FAR/GSAR changes, attend occasional policy tiger team meetings, and coordinate with Policy Leadership on publication schedule.

Core Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in acquisition management and strategic planning within federal or complex government acquisition environments (GSA experience highly preferred).
  • Advanced subject matter expertise along with a comprehensive understanding of the ongoing FAR, GSAR, and Acquisition Handbook overhauls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in adult learning and training facilitation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in change management frameworks (e.g., Prosci ADKAR or similar) is also a plus.

Work environment and physical demands of the job: Working remotely, all work is computer-based, including frequent video meetings. The role requires sitting for extended periods of time.
