Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission in Abilene, TX, is seeking an Accounting Technician II to provide administrative and financial support in the facility’s financial office. The role handles trust funds, procurement card coordination, deposits, travel, and payroll-related tasks.

The position requires strong knowledge of accounting principles, proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook, and familiarity with CAPPs Financials/Peoplesoft.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GAAP and automated accounting systems.
• Ability to apply accounting theory to transactions and internal controls.
• Knowledge of accounts payable and reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; familiarity with CAPPs Financials/Peoplesoft.
• Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports; and to train other employees.

Responsibilities

• Process deposits and bank deposits for cash and checks.
• Code, post, and balance financial documents in the Trust Fund system.
• Coordinate procurement card usage and reconcile statements.
• Audit cash, petty cash, and related funds; resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate employee travel and reconcile travel forms.
• Assist payroll processes for facility employees and contractors.
• Prepare payments, vouchers, and reports for state office accounting.
• Assist with invoice approvals and tracking.
