Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with five years of accounting work experience.
• Post-high school accounting coursework with at least twenty semester hours may substitute for experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for required education.
• Current continuous service in the state executive branch with one year of Accounting Technician 2 experience meets requirements.

Responsibilities

• Audit out-of-state spend authorization requests and travel reimbursements for compliance with Iowa codes, rules, and policies.
• Approve or reject spend authorizations and travel payments with appropriate documentation.
• Prepare regular reports to track spend authorizations and expense claims.
• Assist supervisor by analyzing open spend authorizations and responding to policy questions.
• Interpret applicable federal/state rules, department policies, and GAAP for accounts payable.

Education
