Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company in Columbus, OH, seeks a Specialist, Accounting to plan, coordinate and perform complex accounting functions essential to regulatory and internal reporting.

You will lead sophisticated financial data preparation, ensure accuracy, and support management decisions in a hybrid work setting. Four to six years of experience and CPA progress are preferred.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate studies in accounting, finance or business administration; accounting major and degree preferred.
• Progress towards CPA preferred.
• GAAP and STAT knowledge and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead establishment and implementation of new or revised accounting policies and procedures.
• Prepare and analyze complex financial and regulatory statements for company and business areas.
• Develop and submit sophisticated accounting transactions for accurate reporting.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of all reports and data for internal and external clients.
• Recommend actions when financial analysis shows unfavorable trends or deviations.
• Stay informed of GAAP and state regulatory requirements impacting statements and reports.
• Lead development of new or enhanced accounting systems and processes.
• Prepare pro forma financial data for new regulatory requirements.
• Assist management in applying data to solve administrative and operating problems.
• Prepare state and supplemental reporting requirements.
• Prepare complex financial information for auditors and regulators.
• Lead project teams on selected accounting projects.
