Job summary

TEEMA in Tempe, AZ seeks a Senior Accounting Manager to lead plant accounting, financial reporting, and closing processes for a high‑volume manufacturing operation. This role partners with operations and corporate accounting to ensure accurate US GAAP reporting and strong internal controls.

The ideal candidate has a CPA or CPA‑strong background, 8+ years in accounting/finance, cost and inventory leadership, and proven ability to drive process improvements in SOX environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPAStrongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong US GAAP technical accounting and internal controls knowledge.
  • Experience with cost accounting and inventory accounting required.
  • Public company and SOX compliance experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare balance sheet and income statement analytics and fluctuation explanations.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for the factory.
  • Coordinate with corporate accounting on consolidation and external reporting.
  • Ensure timely, accurate financial statements under US GAAP and policy.
  • Oversee standard costing, cost rollups, and variance analysis.

What you will be doing:

Plant Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare balance sheet & income statement analytics and fluctuation explanation
  • Manage monthly, quarterly and annual close process for the factory
  • Coordinate with corporate accounting on consolidation, technical accounting, and external reporting requirements
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and company policies
Cost Accounting & Inventory Management:
  • Oversee standard costing, cost rollups, and variance analysis (labor, overhead, material)
  • Analyze manufacturing variances and partner with operations to drive cost improvements
  • Manage inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
  • Ensure accurate accounting for WIP, finished goods, and scrap
Operational Finance Partnership
  • Partner with plant leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Provide actionable insights on cost drivers, capacity utilization, and efficiency metrics
  • Support capital expenditure (CapEx) planning, tracking, and asset accounting
  • Drive financial discipline in manufacturing operations and investment decisions
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal audit requirements
  • Support external and internal audit activities
  • Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting, inventory and fixed assets
  • Lead or participate in various ad-hoc analysis and special projects as assigned
  • Identify and drive continuous process improvements and automation opportunities
Leadership & Team Management
  • This position starts as individual contributor and will manage a team as operation scales up, with potential succeeding the Controller
What you must have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of accounting/finance experience
  • Strong background in cost accounting and inventory accounting
  • Demonstrate strong US GAAP technical accounting and internal controls knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office with advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required; semiconductor or high-tech preferred
  • Public company and SOX compliance experience preferred
  • Previous experience with financial systems (ERP such SAP/Oracle preferred)
