Job summary

High Country Search Group seeks an experienced Senior Accountant for manufacturing-focused cost accounting and inventory analysis to support month-end close and drive operational improvements across facilities.

You will maintain standard costs, analyze variances, prepare reconciliations, and partner with Plant leadership to drive efficiency in a fast-paced environment. The role requires 5+ years, GAAP knowledge, ERP experience, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 1 year focused on cost accounting and inventory analysis.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, BOMs and routing structures, cost allocations, inventory controls.
  • Experience supporting month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly cost accounting reports, including product costing, manufacturing variances, and gross margin analysis.
  • Maintain and update standard costs, ensuring accuracy of BOMs, labor, and overhead allocations.
  • Perform inventory accounting activities, including reconciliations, cycle counts, physical inventory support, and reserve calculations.
  • Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Partner with plant leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare inventory and cost-related balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory valuation, excess and obsolete inventory, and turnover metrics.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and standard cost roll processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and policies.
  • Assist with audits by preparing schedules and documentation.
  • Develop and improve reporting processes utilizing ERP systems and Excel.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Production, Procurement, and Finance.

Job description

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in cost accounting, inventory analysis, and manufacturing accounting. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate product costing, analyzing inventory performance, supporting month-end close activities, and partnering with operations to improve financial performance across manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly cost accounting reports, including product costing, manufacturing variances, and gross margin analysis.
  • Maintain and update standard costs, ensuring accuracy of bills of materials (BOMs), labor, and overhead allocations.
  • Perform inventory accounting activities, including inventory reconciliations, cycle count analysis, physical inventory support, and reserve calculations.

  • Partner with plant leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiencies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 1 year focused on cost accounting and inventory analysis.
  • Strong understanding of:

Preferred Experience
  • Manufacturing industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, Infor, NetSuite, or similar manufacturing ERP platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial modeling.
  • Experience working with Power BI or other business intelligence tools is a plus.
