Job summary

Synergy Search is seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting to join its New York operations. This hands-on leadership role oversees close processes for SCA standalone financials and directs the accounting team through a major ERP implementation.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Accounting, 5–8 years in public or corporate accounting, CPA preferred, and strong experience with GAAP and IFRS, plus ERP systems such as SAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 5–8 years of combined accounting and financial reporting experience in large public companies.
• CPA preferred; Big 4 or Top 10 audit experience preferred.
• ERP experience, SAP or similar, with upcoming cloud implementation.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-, quarter-, and year-end close for standalone financials.
• Prepare and review statements under US GAAP and IFRS.
• Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, including PBC items and JSOX.
• Lead a Senior Accountant and mentor staff.
• Support transition to a cloud ERP system, including configuration and controls.

Senior Manager, Accounting | $120K-$140K + Bonus | New York, NY

Our client, a global trading and investment company with a diverse industrial portfolio, is hiring a Senior Manager, Accounting to join its operational accounting group in New York. This is a hands‑on leadership role with direct exposure to a company‑wide ERP implementation going live within the year.

About the Company

This organization operates across industries including automotive, chemicals, food, and commodities such as metals, minerals, and energy, supporting both manufacturing subsidiaries and traditional trading activity. It's a large, publicly traded, multi‑billion dollar global company with a well‑established presence in the U.S. market.

What You'll Do

• Manage the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close for SCA standalone financials, including all branches
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS
• Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Coordinate internal and external audit requests, including PBC items, cutoff testing, and JSOX compliance
• Lead and mentor a direct report (Senior Accountant)
• Manage the corporate card program, including card issuance, reconciliations, and policy administration
• Serve as a key contributor to the transition to a new, heavily customized cloud‑based ERP system, supporting system design, accounting configuration, data validation, and internal controls

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
• 5-8 years of combined accounting and financial reporting experience in large public companies (some flexibility for the right background)
• Background in manufacturing, production, or another industry with a tangible product or service (financial services accounting experience does not translate to this role)
• Big 4 or top 10 public accounting audit experience preferred, or strong corporate industry experience
• SAP or similar ERP experience strongly preferred given the upcoming implementation
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to a diverse, global workforce
• Comfort operating within a structured approval process and a collaborative, team‑oriented environment
