Job summary

Virta Health is seeking a senior accounting leader to drive accurate, scalable financial reporting and strong internal controls. You will shape the accounting function, lead audits, and advance automation across GAAP-compliant processes while mentoring a growing team.

You will champion AI-enabled tools and scalable controls, partner across FP&A, Legal, and Operations, and own complex accounting initiatives in a remote-first, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• CPA required with 8+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong technical accounting foundation with deep experience across General Ledger accounting, financial reporting, and US GAAP.
• Experience leading complex monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting processes in a high-growth, public company, or public-company-ready environment.
• Proven people leader with experience developing high-performing accounting teams, setting clear expectations, and creating accountability.
• Strong business judgment and ability to independently identify, evaluate, and drive complex accounting matters to resolution.
• Proven track record improving accounting operations through technology, automation, process redesign, and scalable internal controls.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional partnership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating with significant ownership and autonomy in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead General Ledger accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting.
• Oversee annual financial statement audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors.
• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and reporting in Workiva.
• Lead technical accounting research and memos under US GAAP.
• Oversee stock-based compensation and equity administration accounting.
• Ensure monthly/quarterly/annual statements are accurate and well-documented.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team.
• Drive adoption of AI, automation, and emerging technologies in accounting workflows.
