Job summary

Granite Construction Inc. is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to oversee the General Accounting Department, ensuring GAAP-compliant reporting and timely financial closes. The role requires guiding managers and staff, driving process improvements, and coordinating with internal and external auditors.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Accounting with a CPA, and preferably an MBA. Oracle E1 experience and construction industry exposure are a plus for this on-site leadership position

Qualifications

• Solid technical accounting skills and understanding of GAAP.
• Experience leading and coaching staff in a managerial capacity.
• Advanced computer skills with Excel and Microsoft Office; large enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting close activities including revenue recognition, inventory accounting, fuel accounting, fixed assets, cash, stock-based compensation, investments and various other accounts to ensure a timely and accurate financial close.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial statements comply with GAAP.
• Oversee preparation of internal and external reports, ensuring accuracy and proper review.
• Perform impairment analyses for equity method affiliates and PP&E as required by GAAP.
• Manage accounting for foreign transactions including translation and currency effects.
• Ensure SOX requirements are completed and audits addressed.
• Provide leadership to ensure internal customers receive excellent service and participate in process improvement.
• Mentor managers and staff to promote staff development and efficiency.
• Recommend and implement process improvements and best practices.
• Provide research and analysis to ensure timely and compliant transaction recording.
