Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of accounting experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
• Two (2) years of additional professional accounting experience at the next lower level.

Responsibilities

• Assures accounting reporting systems comply with university, state, and federal policies.
• Participates in preparation of annual budgets, annual reports and other important financial/statistical reports.
• Prepares complex accounting reports and reconciliations.
• Assists with year-end audit.
• Directs and coordinates General Accounting, Revenue Accounting, and Payroll divisions.
• Supervises professional level section or division heads; plans, assigns, reviews work, counsels staff, and evaluates performance.
• Provides technical advice to operating managers, interpreting accounting reports and identifying problem areas.
• Recommends actions to management when accounting data shows unfavorable trends.
• Develops specialized automated accounting systems with data processing staff.
• Assists with training university staff in accounting software usage.
• Participates in meetings establishing university accounting policies and procedures.
• Records and reconciles all revenue from customer credit cards; handles tax form processing.
