Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a highly skilled accountant to manage complex accounting activities and support the timely close of the general ledger. The role involves preparing journal entries, reconciliations, fixed asset processing, lease reviews, accruals, and variance analysis with strong governance under GAAP and SOX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related quantitative discipline is required.
• Five (5) years experience in accounting and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills required.
• Outstanding knowledge of business software, spreadsheet applications and/or mainframe or web-based applications.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for highly complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely close of the general ledger.
• Prepares and posts journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset processing, lease/contract review, accrual entries, and/or budget variance reviews.
• Researches and analysis of assigned large elements of revenue and expense and the related internal/external reporting.
• Ensures general ledger account balances are materially correct in compliance with internal controls and GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley testing/documentation.
• Leads internal and cross functional teams on major initiatives/projects including process improvement and regulatory changes.
