Job summary

Knife River is seeking an experienced accountant to apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare reports. You will assist in directing financial activities and support the month-end close and inventory-related tasks.

The role typically follows a production-season schedule Monday–Friday, 8am–4:30pm. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, 3–5 years of experience, strong Excel skills, and experience with ERP/finance systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• 3-5 years accounting principles and management experience.
• Good analytical and financial skills.
• Knowledge using Adobe Acrobat, HCSS, JDE, Apex, and Command a plus.
• Fluent with Microsoft Office products, Excel knowledge must be proficient.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare monthly closings.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations for asset and liability accounts.
• Analyze financial information and prepare journal entries.
• Maintain journal entry lists for the department.
• Assist with audits by internal and external teams.
• Support month-end close for inventory and GL tasks.
• Manage product and inventory item records, setups, and cost changes.
• Assist with SOX reporting items and internal controls.
