Overview

The Senior Accountant is a key member of the Accounting team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of the US region's financial results to Stella McCartney headquarters, internal stakeholders, and external auditors. This role oversees all accounting activities related to the region's cost centers, including month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, lease accounting and agreement analysis, landlord sales audits, and store MRP preparation and reporting. In addition, the Senior Accountant partners closely with Retail Operations and business leaders to analyze financial results, identify variances to budget and forecast, and provide actionable insights to support effective expense management and decision-making. The role also plays an active part in the budgeting and forecasting process by providing financial analysis, reporting, and support that help drive business performance and strategic planning. This position requires a highly analytical, detail-oriented accounting professional who can balance operational excellence with strong business partnering skills in a dynamic luxury retail environment.

Your Mission
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain account reconciliations while providing analytical support to business stakeholders.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of credit card transactions and settlements.
  • Reconcile daily retail sales activity across all store locations and sales channels.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify trends across key performance indicators (KPIs), and analyze significant variances to determine underlying business drivers.
  • Provide store management and the Store Operations team with detailed analysis of store operating expenses and financial performance.
  • Serve as a financial partner to store managers, providing guidance and education on store contribution reports and key financial metrics.
  • Act as the primary liaison for landlord sales audits, coordinating requests and ensuring timely responses.
  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Partner with budget owners to monitor expenses, provide financial guidance, and support cost-control initiatives.
  • Provide financial data and supporting documentation required for tax provision calculations and related reporting.
  • Prepare and deliver data, analyses, and support for internal and external audit requests.
  • Review, validate, and upload monthly treasury-related journal entries.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations, financial analyses, and ad hoc reports to support management decision-making.
  • Participate in cross‑functional initiatives and special projects as assigned.
Your Talent
  • Luxury retail and/or wholesale industry experience preferred.
  • Proven senior-level accounting experience, with responsibility for general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month‑end close processes.
  • Self‑motivated and proactive, with the ability to prioritize, organize, and effectively manage multiple responsibilities independently.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to manage a broad range of accounting activities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced environment, manage competing priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, complex formulas, and financial modeling.
