Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting seeks a hands-on Senior Accountant to run the day-to-day accounting function in Sunnyside, NY, and guide a two-person team. The role covers books, month-end close, reconciliations, payroll accounting, and relevant regulatory filings, with the President approving high-value disbursements and financial statements.

The Senior Accountant will also lead the Accounting Assistant, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support year-end activities and audits.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of accounting experience with month-end close and bank reconciliations.
• Experience training, reviewing, or directing the work of junior staff.
• Working knowledge of cash accounting.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills; ability to quickly learn new software and online banking platforms.

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day accounting and lead the month-end close process.
• Prepare bank and escrow reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and P&L trend reports for leadership.
• Manage payroll processing, 1099s, and payroll-related reconciliations.
• Supervise Accounting Assistant and maintain SOPs per best practices.
