Job summary

Carrix, Inc./SSA Marine, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to apply GAAP and analyze financial information, preparing accurate and timely financial statements.

The role supports the monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of management reports for operating trends and margin analysis. It requires strong communication with terminal managers, Billing, and external authorities to resolve unusual results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting.
• Two to four years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Thorough understanding of GAAP.
• Familiarity with statutory accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Support the monthly close and consolidation process, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare management accounting reports and complete financial statements for operating trends and margin analysis.
• Coordinate with terminal managers and joint venture partners on job cost results and monthly performance.
• Communicate with Billing department and external parties (port authorities) to research unusual results.
• Analyze variances month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter.
• Prepare and review stand-alone audit reports.
• Assist with optimization of accounting procedures and with financial statement preparation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information and preparing accurate and timely financial statements.

• Support the monthly close and consolidation process, including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Prepare various management accounting reports as needed (including complete financial statements) for monitoring of operating trends, margin analysis, etc.
• Provide an open line of communication between the various terminal managers and/or joint venture partners for which they perform the job cost functions for, answering questions regarding the monthly results of their operation.
• Provide communication to the Billing department and outside parties (i.e., port authorities) in researching unusual results or incomplete information.
• Provide analysis of variances between financial results month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter
• Preparation and review of various stand-alone audit reports
• Assist with the optimization of accounting procedures.
• Assist leadership with financial statement preparation.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting.
• Two to four years progressively responsible experience in accounting.
• Public accounting or advisory experience strongly preferred.
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Familiarity with statutory accounting principles.
• Strong analytical and accounting skills.
• Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, etc.
• Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
• Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.

Pay Range: $100,000 - 107,000 per year

The posted compensation range is based on the applicable geographic market for the position and may vary depending on factors such as related experience and skill set. Final compensation will be determined based on these items and other relevant factors.
