Job summary

Rhino + Jetty in New York seeks a Senior Accountant to own the monthly close, reporting, and accounting operations. You will manage the general ledger, strengthen controls as we scale, and mentor junior team members.

This role covers revenue recognition (ASC 606), insurance balances, and collaboration with insurance operations, actuarial teams, FP&A, and RevOps. Competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience; mix of public and in-house preferred.
• CPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferred.
• Strong command of US GAAP; month-end close and financial statement prep experience.
• Experience at a high-growth startup, fintech, or insurance business a plus, with high-volume data.
• Proficiency with ERP/GL and advanced Excel/Sheets.

Responsibilities

• Own significant components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules per US GAAP.
• Handle complex accounting areas: revenue recognition (ASC 606), prepaid/accrued expenses, equity, insurance balances across carrier programs.
• Participate in strategic growth projects including system implementations and standardizing processes.
• Support the annual audit and tax filings: PBC schedules and auditor requests.
