Qualifications

• Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field.
• Accountant requires three years of accounting experience in government accounting, budgeting and financial statements; and a valid California Class C driver’s license.
• Sr. Accountant requires five years of progressively responsible accounting experience in general accounting, auditing, and/or financial management; public agency experience preferred; and a valid California Class C driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Prepares journal entries and reconciles accounts.
• Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, footnotes, and reports for Board of Directors.
• Analyzes and reconciles revenue and expenditure accounts and monitors fund availability.
• Maintains fixed asset registry and depreciation records; coordinates with engineers and other District staff.
• Attends meetings and trainings to stay updated on accounting standards and reporting requirements; supports budget preparation and internal controls.

Education

Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field

Five years of government accounting or five years of related accounting experience for Sr. Accountant
