Job summary

Vallecitos Water District is seeking an experienced financial analyst to perform rate studies, long-range planning, and financial modeling. You will prepare regulatory reports, analyze budgets, and support the CFO in strategic decisions.

The role requires strong data analysis skills, communications with senior leadership, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams. A public agency background is preferred and a degree in a related field is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, statistics, economics, business or public administration.
• Four years of auditing or financial analysis experience, preferably for a public agency.
• Experience preparing financial regulatory reports and presenting findings to management or boards.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and to upper management and elected officials.

Responsibilities

• Conducts complex financial, operational, organizational, and statistical analyses including rate studies, cost allocations, and long-range financial planning.
• Develops, maintains, and analyzes financial, rate, budget, and data models; assesses rate adequacy and funding requirements.
• Analyzes data trends and prepares reports, dashboards, charts, and other decision-support tools.
• Participates in development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets; recommends budget adjustments and funding strategies.
