Job summary

The Parking Spot is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant in Chicago with 2-3 years of experience, ideally from public accounting. The role reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and offers ownership and visibility within the accounting function while growing within the team.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to transition from public accounting processes to owning and shaping them in-house. Strong Excel and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
• 2-3 years of accounting experience (Big 4/National firm a plus).
• CPA designation or working towards CPA.
• Exceptional Excel skills.
• Experience with financial reporting systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close process end-to-end (Journal entries, reconciliations, analysis).
• Research GAAP issues as they arise and recommend treatment.
• Assist in process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
• Review work of junior staff and provide mentorship.
• Escalate complex accounting questions and collaborate with other departments.
• Ensure fixed assets capitalization aligns with GAAP.
