Job summary

Alliance Coal LLC seeks a Senior Accountant in Lexington to support the Director of Accounting – Operations. You will handle general ledger, month-end close, internal controls, audits, and financial reporting for operations across multiple entities.

You will assist with AR/AP processing, intercompany transactions, royalty and liability accounting, and collaboration with operations and corporate teams. Strong accounting knowledge and integrity are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Ability to work with management and various departments.
• An acute attention for detail, high moral integrity, and strong analytical skills.
• Be able to manage confidential information appropriately, exhibiting a high degree of maturity and professionalism.
• Be able to prioritize and work on multiple projects at the same time.
• Excellent Application Skills (i.e.: Word, Excel, Power Point, 10-key, etc).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary.
• Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external contacts.
• Dependable regarding attendance and punctuality
• Ability to sit at a desk and work at a computer for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be a United States Citizen.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience with Oracle applications
• Coal Industry experience
• MBA or equivalent degree
• Professional Certification (CPA, CMA) or willingness to pursue.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closings.
• Review general ledger accounts to identify discrepancies and variances.
• Ensure internal controls and compliance with procedures and laws.
• Participate in internal and external audits and prepare audit schedules.
• Assist with 10-K/10-Q financial reporting and footnotes for Operations Accounting.
• Assist with discounted cash flow analysis for operating liabilities.
• Support Accounts Payable processing including invoice coding and payments.
• Support Accounts Receivable processing including customer setup and invoicing.
• Coordinate with Corporate AR and vendor setup in accounting systems.
• Assist with affiliate/intercompany accounting and supplier accounting duties.
• Complete mid-year and year-end liability valuation with actuary.
• Coordinate reporting to mine operations on affiliate activities.
• Monitor credit terms, outstanding balances, and pre-payments.
• Enhance budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting as needed.
• Other projects as assigned by Management.
