Job summary

Family Service Of Rhode Island Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to support month-end close, maintain general ledger accuracy, and manage grant-funded finances for a multi-entity nonprofit.

You will collaborate with the Finance team and program leadership to ensure accurate reporting and compliant financial stewardship. The ideal candidate has nonprofit accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills, with ERP experience (Dynamics GP preferred).

Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit accounting and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and FASB in a nonprofit environment.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience (Dynamics GP preferred).

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries for prepaids, allocations, intercompany transactions, and accruals.
• Maintain reconciliations and supporting documentation (occupancy square footage, ROU leases, fixed assets).
• Reconcile bank, investment, and endowment accounts; research variances and ensure GL accuracy.
• Assist with grant-related functions, fund tracking, and SEFA compliance.
• Support annual audits and Form 990 filings for multiple entities.
• Assist in budget development, GL integrity, and internal control compliance.
• Lead or participate in special projects, process improvements, and cross-training.
