Job summary

Tri-County Community Action Agency in Johnston, RI is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Finance Department under the CFO. You will provide comprehensive accounting and budgetary support for federally and state-funded programs, including Head Start, CSBG, and LIHEAP, while ensuring GAAP compliance and audit readiness.

The role emphasizes grant reporting, reconciliation, and closeout activities across multiple funding streams, with collaboration with program directors to monitor budgets

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, federal grant compliance, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
• Experience with nonprofit accounting in Head Start/CSBG/LIHEAP environments.
• Proficiency in grant reporting systems and compliance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit timely reimbursement requests and financial reports for Head Start, CSBG, LIHEAP, and other federally funded programs.
• Monitor grant budgets for allowable expenditures and funding limits.
• Code expenses to grant/contract and cost categories per federal principles.
• Maintain documentation to support grant expenditures and ensure audit readiness.
• Assist with grant closeout, including final financial reporting and reconciliation.
• Serve as financial liaison to Program Directors for budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
• Reconcile general ledger and multiple bank accounts monthly.
• Support annual Single Audit and program-specific audits.
