Hawaii Community Foundation is seeking a Senior Accountant in Honolulu to manage the Operating Fund accounting, payroll processing, and financial reporting. The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance with GAAP/FASB for nonprofits, and collaboration with other finance team members.

The Senior Accountant will also support budget development, variance analysis, and cross-functional Finance initiatives while maintaining strong internal controls and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting work experience required.
• Nonprofit fund accounting knowledge and GAAP/FASB understanding a plus.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Excel.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsabilités

• Oversee all aspects of the Operating Fund accounting, including monthly close, entries, reconciliations and report analysis.
• Prepare and review ad hoc accounting reports for departments, leadership, and external stakeholders.
• Support Operating Fund budgets and analyze variances with timely reports.
• Manage Operating Fund cash flow and policy-compliant fund movements.
• Administer payroll processing and related tax filings; reconcile payroll GL accounts.
• Implement internal controls and respond to information requests.
• Provide training on Operating Fund workflows to non-finance staff.
