Job summary

The Diocese of Charleston is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the month-end close, financial reporting, and year-end audits across the Diocese and its related entities. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, at least 5 years of accounting experience (Big 4 preferred), strong GAAP knowledge, and excellent analytical and communication skills.

Experience with ERP systems and MS Office is required; fund accounting is a plus.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
Minimum 5 years of accounting or related experience.
Big 4 accounting experience preferred.
Solid GAAP knowledge.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Perform month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and financial statements.
Prepare bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Assist in development and management of annual budgeting process.
Conduct financial and variance analysis to support decisions.
Maintain and track fixed assets and CIP projects.
Support annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
Oversee subsidiary ledgers: AP/AR and payroll; implement process improvements.
