Job summary

Rango Inc. in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead the monthly close across multiple entities, manage reconciliations, and support audits. You will combine hands-on execution with cost analysis to explain variances and drive process improvements.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance and 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong Excel and QuickBooks skills, and experience with intercompany activity in a construction/mining context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required (advanced degree or certificate preferred).
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience assisting in maintaining books for multiple legal entities, including intercompany activity.
• Job costing or project/WIP accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of construction, trades, mining, heavy equipment, or related industries preferred.
• QuickBooks and AP automation/invoice processing systems a plus.
• Advanced Excel: VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, filters, and formula-driven schedules.
• Excellent communication, research, problem-solving, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned areas of the monthly close across multiple related entities - journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and roll-forward schedules - on a firm calendar
• Maintain cash reconciliations, compliance reporting, general accounting, internal controls, and cost accounting.
• Perform job-level cost accounting: allocate overhead, equipment, and labor to job classes and sites, and explain month-over-month movement in revenue and cost
• Reconcile intercompany and related-party activity between affiliated entities
• Support external audits needs by pulling supporting documentation
• Document procedures and improve them - we expect recurring work to get faster and more reliable each cycle
• This role requires both hands-on execution (reconciliations, month-end schedules, AP resolutions when needed) and analytical judgment (cost analysis, cutoff, and accruals).
