Job summary

At Rango in Mesa, AZ seeks a Senior Accountant to own monthly close across multiple entities, perform cost accounting, and support audits. The role combines hands-on reconciliations with analytical cost analysis in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Bachelors in Accounting/Finance with 4+ years of accounting experience required; construction/mining industry exposure and QuickBooks/AP automation are pluses. On-site, day shift position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required; advanced degree or certificate preferred.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience maintaining books for multiple legal entities, including intercompany activity.
• Job costing or project/WIP accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of construction, trades, mining, heavy equipment, or related industries preferred.
• QuickBooks and AP automation/invoice processing systems a plus.
• Advanced Excel: VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, filters, and formula-driven schedules.
• Excellent communication, research, problem-solving, and time management skills.
• High level of accuracy, efficiency, detail, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned areas of the monthly close across multiple related entities — journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and roll-forward schedules — on a firm calendar
• Maintain cash reconciliations, compliance reporting, general accounting, internal controls, and cost accounting
• Perform job-level cost accounting: allocate overhead, equipment, and labor to job classes and sites, and explain month-over-month movement in revenue and cost
• Reconcile intercompany and related-party activity between affiliated entities
• Support external audits needs by pulling supporting documentation
• Document procedures and improve them — we expect recurring work to get faster and more reliable each cycle
• This role requires both hands-on execution (reconciliations, month-end schedules, AP resolutions when needed) and analytical judgment (cost analysis, cutoff, and accruals)
