Job summary

CFS in Niles, MI is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a fast-paced, high-volume team onsite. You will own financial reporting, lead a small accounting staff, and drive month-end close with GAAP proficiency while partnering with leadership to support business decisions.

The role requires 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in both public accounting and private industry, a bachelor's degree, and excellent communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with public accounting and private industry preferred.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting experience.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising accounting staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close processes with timely, accurate results.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and resolve discrepancies.
• Mentor a small accounting team with day-to-day guidance.
• Collaborate with leadership to provide financial insight for decisions.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Support external audits and tax compliance.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls.
• Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
