Job summary

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a fast-paced, high-volume organization in Niles, Michigan. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who brings a strong combination of public accounting and private industry experience, along with the ability to take ownership of financial reporting and help lead a small accounting team.

The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, organized, and comfortable working in an environment where priorities move quickly. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end close, and providing leadership and guidance to the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial results.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and other core accounting functions.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while identifying and resolving discrepancies.
• Lead and mentor a small accounting team, providing direction, training, and day-to-day support.
• Collaborate with leadership and operational teams to provide financial insight and support business decisions.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and other financial planning activities.
• Support external audits, tax requirements, and other compliance-related activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and overall efficiency.
• Successfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines within a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a combination of public accounting and private industry experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Proven experience with month-end close and preparation of financial statements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising accounting staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
• Hands-on, collaborative leadership style with a willingness to jump in and help the team succeed.
