Job summary

Ocean Havens is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its dynamic accounting team. This hands-on role focuses on technical accounting, process improvement, and partnering with operational leaders across multiple locations.

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, and a track record in multi-entity environments. CPA is a plus. You’ll contribute to audits, budgeting, and system enhancements while supporting cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in multi-location operations.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite or QuickBooks is preferred.
  • CPA designation is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and assist with monthly financial reporting and analysis.
  • Partner with operations teams to understand business activities and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment under U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepare analyses and explain results and variances to management.
  • Support annual audits and other compliance requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc analyses.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Support ERP optimization and automation initiatives.
  • Collaborate across departments for accurate revenue, expenses, inventory, assets, leases, and intercompany accounting.

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is a key member of the accounting team responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company’s financial records. This hands‑on role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys technical accounting, solving problems, improving processes, and partnering with operational leaders. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but serves as a trusted financial business partner to operations, helping ensure accounting activities accurately reflect business performance and support informed decision-making.



Primary Responsibilities


  • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.

  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure timely resolution.

  • Execute month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities in accordance with established deadlines.

  • Prepare supporting schedules and assist with monthly financial reporting and analysis.

  • Partner with marina, hospitality, and property operations teams to understand business activities and ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Analyze financial transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Prepare account analyses and explain financial results, trends, and variances to management and operational leaders.

  • Support annual financial statement audits and other compliance requirements.

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad‑hoc financial analysis.

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase operational efficiency.

  • Support ERP optimization, system enhancements, and accounting process automation initiatives.

  • Collaborate across departments to ensure accurate accounting for revenues, expenses, inventory, fixed assets, leases, intercompany transactions, and other balance sheet accounts.



Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within hospitality, marina, real estate, property management, or other multi‑location service organizations.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.

  • Demonstrated experience preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and managing the month‑end close process.

  • Experience working in a multi‑entity environment is strongly preferred.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Quickbooks, or similar platforms is preferred.

  • CPA designation is preferred but not required.
