ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the Accounting and Finance function by maintaining accurate financial records and contributing to timely and reliable financial reporting. This role plays a critical part in the monthly close process, account reconciliations, and financial analysis, while partnering closely with operations and senior accounting team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participate in the monthly financial close process, including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Perform month-end close procedures for assigned accounts and vessels, including journal entries and reconciliations for cash, prepaid insurance, accruals, payroll, purchase orders, and other expenses.
  • Assist with internal and external financial reporting requirements.
  • Compile and analyze financial data to support the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  • Review and analyze financial results at the vessel, port, and company level to ensure accuracy and completeness for reporting purposes.
  • Partner with operations teams to investigate and explain significant variances between actual results, prior periods, and budget or forecast.
  • Monitor bank accounts and assist with weekly cash flow projections.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit requests.
  • Assist in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to help predict future revenues and expenses.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • One to two years of accounting experience, with public accounting audit experience considered a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational reporting tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with an accounting ERP system.
  • Public accounting experience or CPA credential.
