Maine State Credit Union is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Augusta. You will maintain accounting records, reconcilе accounts, and support month-end close while mentoring other staff. The role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to controls.

You’ll leverage Excel and GL systems to generate reports, analyze variances, and provide trusted financial insights to leadership. A 4-year degree and 3–5 years of experience are preferred for this critical position.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of accounting or related financial experience.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and credit union transaction accounts.
• Assist with monthly and year-end closing activities.
• Process payments and verify financial information for accuracy.
• Prepare budget, income, expense, and other financial reports.
• Analyze accounting records and identify discrepancies or opportunities for improvement.
