Maine State Credit Union in Augusta, ME is seeking a Senior Accountant to maintain financial records, prepare reports, reconcile accounts, and assist with month-end closing, while mentoring other team members.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of accounting or related financial experience.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting systems and general ledger functions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and credit union transaction accounts.
• Assist with monthly and year-end closing activities.
• Process payments and verify financial information for accuracy.
• Prepare budget, income, expense, and other financial reports.
• Analyze accounting records and identify discrepancies or opportunities for improvement.
• Review accounting work for accuracy and completeness.
• Serve as a resource and mentor to team members on accounting processes and procedures.
• Assist with special projects and other accounting initiatives as assigned.
