Google Chicago is seeking a Senior Accountant II to lead AI-driven automation in Payroll Accounting. You will design and maintain automated data pipelines, translate business logic into technical requirements, and collaborate with Engineering, Data, and AI teams to modernize financial reporting.

You’ll mentor staff and push for scalable, auditable processes. The role focuses on end-to-end accounting, pipeline automation, and driver-based insights to support reporting needs across Google’s

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent.
CPA or CA certification.
10 years accounting experience, or 8+ with advanced degree.
Experience with SQL, data modeling, and automated pipelines.
Experience applying AI/LLM in finance workflows.
Experience with R2R, GL, accruals, and variance analysis.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain automated data pipelines with cross-functional teams.
Design, automate, and optimize calculation engines to streamline close processes.
Transition scripts and workflows to enterprise-grade, auditable systems.
Bridge accounting leads with central engineering to translate requirements.
Mentor finance staff on SQL and modern automation tools.
