Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. (AMA) in Hampton, VA seeks an experienced Senior Accountant for our corporate Accounting team. Hybrid role requiring 1–2 days on-site weekly.

The position supports payroll, accounts payable/receivable, GL maintenance, reconciliations, and month-end close to ensure accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of accounting experience, preferably in government contracting, and strong analytical and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience across multiple functions.
• Experience with payroll processing, AP/AR, GL maintenance, reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel skills (formulas, lookups, pivot tables, reporting).
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint and ADP payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Support weekly timekeeping and bi-weekly payroll activities.
• Process payroll-related accounting transactions and reconciliations.
• Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for accuracy.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with policies and federal/state regulations.
• Collaborate with internal departments to validate financial data.
• Support audits and special accounting projects.
