Job summary

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. is seeking a Full-Time Senior Accountant for a hybrid role in OH with offices in Maumee, Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus, and Canton. The role emphasizes payroll processing, GAAP compliance, and financial reporting while supporting a proactive accounting team.

You will manage multi-state payroll, maintain records, and collaborate with HR and the CFO on process improvements in a collaborative environment that rewards accuracy and initiative.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with solid understanding of GAAP.
• Payroll processing certification and experience preferred.
• 4+ years of relevant accounting work experience.
• Proficient in Excel with experience in advanced accounting systems (Deltek Vision or VantagePoint preferred).
• Must work well in a team environment and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented problem solver with strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and backup to maintain and process bi-weekly multi-state payroll.
• Keep employee payroll records up-to-date.
• Create and post payroll journals entries to the general ledger.
• Audit benefits withholding with HR and provider invoices.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Ensure timesheet compliance with handbook and tax compliance across states.
• Verify funding of 401k contributions and employer match.
• Prepare month and year end reconciliations and schedules.
• Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports.
• Assist with overflow work from accounts payable.
• Identify and implement efficiencies; support CFO on special projects.
