Job summary

CFS, a well-established professional services organization serving the Cleveland market, seeks a Senior Accountant for a hybrid role in Lakewood, OH. You will manage month-end close, prepare journal entries, and generate management reports to support strategic decisions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, deep GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills. This position offers collaboration with leadership and opportunities for growth in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a professional environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and complex formulas.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite or similar).
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and supporting documentation.
• Evaluate general ledger activity and investigate variances or unusual accounting transactions.
• Generate financial reports, reporting packages, and ad hoc analyses for management.
• Ensure accounting records are maintained accurately and in compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Collaborate with departments across the organization to obtain financial data and address accounting-related issues.
• Support day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and prepaid expenses.
• Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
• Assist with audit requests and prepare supporting schedules for internal and external auditors.
