The position emphasizes payroll, general ledger work, and financial reporting in a collaborative environment. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Accounting, 4+ years’ experience, and proficiency in Excel with Deltek Vision or VantagePoint.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with solid understanding of GAAP.
• 4+ years of relevant accounting work experience.
• Payroll processing certification and experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel with experience in Deltek Vision or VantagePoint preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and backup to maintain and process bi-weekly multi-state payroll.
• Keep employee payroll records up-to-date.
• Create and post payroll journals entries to the general ledger.
• Work with HR to audit benefit withholdings against provider invoice.
• Help investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Ensure timesheets and tax compliance with various states and municipalities.
• Verify funding of 401k contributions and calculate employer match.
• Month and year-end account reconciliations and schedules.
• Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports.
• Assist with overflow work from accounts payable.
• Identify and implement efficiencies in the department.
• Collaborate with CFO and Controller on special projects.

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. has an opening for a Full-Time Senior Accountant position. This hybrid opportunity is available at our offices in Maumee, Cleveland, Toledo, or Columbus, OH, as well as Canton, MI.

Key Responsibilities

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with solid understanding of GAAP.
• Payroll processing certification and experience preferred.
• 4+ years of relevant accounting work experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel with experience in advanced accounting systems (Deltek Vision or VantagePoint preferred)
• Must work well in a team environment, be independently effective and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented problem solver.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
