Job summary

SmartStop® Self Storage in California is hiring a Senior Accountant to support monthly closes, consolidated statements, internal controls, and audits. You will prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for internal and external reporting, under the Controller.

The role blends on-site and remote work after an initial on-site training period in our Ladera Ranch office. The position reports to the Controller, requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with at least 2 years of

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Public Accounting and/or private company accounting.
• CPA licensure preferred but not required.
• Experience in REITs is a plus.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly close processes and consolidation.
• Maintain internal controls and prepare financial statements.
• Support schedules for internal and external reporting.
• Assist with the annual audit and SEC filings where needed.
• Coordinate with property accountants and management.
