Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage in California is seeking an Accountant for a HYBRID role. You will manage monthly close for approximately 20 self-storage properties, maintain internal controls, treasury, and internal reporting under the Accounting Manager.

This position blends in-office days in Ladera Ranch with work-from-home Mondays and Fridays after training, offering growth opportunities within a fast-growing company that has earned multiple industry awards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or comparable work experience.
• Experience with GAAP financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills.
• Must possess strong organizational, analytical, and oral & written communication skills.
• Be detailed oriented while multi-tasking in a fast-paced company.
• Ability to adapt quickly to change, working effectively in a demanding environment.
• Must love diversity and work well with all personality types.
• Takes initiative, looking for areas of improvement and possess a commitment to following through on changes.
• Works well independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Produce journal entries, banking and account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly balance sheets and income statements.
• Analyze budget and actual results to report variances.
• Support integration of new acquisitions as needed.
• Compile a monthly reporting package for each property.
• Other accounting responsibilities and ad hoc projects as assigned.
