Addison Group is seeking a Senior Accountant in Chicago, IL to support grants, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, and audit preparation for a nonprofit organization. The role emphasizes proactive, detail-oriented work, strong Excel skills, and the ability to manage grants from start to finish in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have solid GL experience, grant and contract accounting knowledge, and the initiative to work independently with minimal supervision

Qualifications

• Experience in general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Ability to manage grants from start to finish.
• Experience supporting audits and maintaining documentation.
• Strong Excel skills (PivotTables, Lookups, formulas).

Responsibilities

• Manage grants from start to finish with documentation and deadlines.
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and post journal entries for the general ledger.
• Support month-end close activities and reporting.
• Assist with grant and contract accounting and documentation.
• Support audit preparation with organized records and schedules.
• Maintain thorough documentation for transactions and reconciliations.
• Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Take initiative with minimal supervision.
