Haymarket Center in Chicago seeks a skilled accounting professional to manage month-end and year-end close, ensure GL integrity, and coordinate grant accounting and audits. Reporting to the CFO, you will supervise the Payroll Manager and deliver accurate financial statements and timely reporting.

The role emphasizes internal controls, grant management, and adherence to GAAP, with a focus on nonprofit healthcare accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
• Five+ years of progressive accounting experience with month-end and year-end close, and external audits.
• Experience with restricted grants, cost allocations, payroll reconciliation; nonprofit/healthcare accounting valued.
• Strong Excel and accounting systems skills; GAAP, internal controls knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly and year-end close processes and related reconciliations.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and post journal entries for payroll and other items.
• Deliver timely financial statements, variances, and cash flow projections to the CFO.
• Lead external audit coordination and prepare schedules and workpapers.
• Supervise the Payroll Manager and ensure accurate payroll processing.
• Maintain fixed asset, depreciation, and debt schedules; monitor budget uploads.
