Job summary

Cook County Health & Hospitals System is seeking a Senior Accountant in Finance to manage ledger integrity, month-end close, and grant accounting at 1340 S Damen St, Chicago. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and at least three years of accounting experience. Proficiency with EBS Oracle and MS Office is essential.

Salary ranges from $117,778 to $136,497 and will be commensurate with experience. CPA/HFMA preferred; GAAP/government accounting knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum three years of accounting experience.
• Experience with EBS Oracle Financial System or similar systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Performs accounting and related duties for the organization.
• Prepares and reviews journal entries, balance sheets, income statements, and variances.
• Oversees general ledger maintenance and monthly close activities.
• Reviews invoicing, accounts payable, and grant billing.
• Gathers data for audits and supports auditors during external reviews.
• Assists in grant budgeting and reporting to funders.
