Job summary

Welltower, Inc. in the United States, is seeking a Senior Accountant, Partnership Accounting to manage accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of operator partnerships, including foreign operators and complex structures, with emphasis on monthly intercompany consolidation and close.

You will mentor staff, review work, and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and the repeatability of the close, while ensuring adherence to US GAAP and SOX requirements.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of public or corporate accounting experience required.
• Partnership, consolidation, or real estate accounting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS preferred.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary accounting contact for an assigned portfolio of operators, including foreign operators and other complex structures, resolving inquiries and leading operator meetings.
• Maintain accurate books and records for assigned partnership entities, including preparation of journal entries for monthly close.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and review reconciliations, ensuring supporting work papers and resolved reconciling items.
• Review staff accountants' work across operators, including journal entries and consolidations, with timely feedback.
• Perform monthly consolidation and intercompany elimination procedures, resolving currency translation issues.
• Review monthly operator submissions and analyze variances and trends, including impact on NOI and FFO.
• Apply appropriate accounting treatment across RIDEA and non-RIDEA structures.
• Support accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, and other transactions affecting operator properties.
• Perform internal controls for partnership accounting and support SOX requirements; coordinate audits.
• Train and mentor staff accountants; initiate process improvements.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed.
