Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking an Accountant in Poway, CA to own day-to-day accounting tasks and participate in month-end close, reconciliations, fixed assets, and audit support. This contract-to-hire role emphasizes thoroughness and ownership of key processes in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Accounting with extensive GL experience and strong Excel skills, plus familiarity with sales tax and AR/AP. Onsite only, with competitive hourly pay."

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 25 years of accounting experience.
• Hands-on general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
• Experience with month-end close and accruals.
• Understanding of fixed asset accounting and depreciation.
• Familiarity with sales tax, AR/AP, and audit support.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, including cash and credit card accounts.
• Prepare month-end accruals and ensure expenses are recognized accurately.
• Manage fixed asset additions, retirements, depreciation, and intangible asset amortization.
• Support sales tax registrations and reconciliations.
• Review AR aging and support AP-related activities.
• Assist with audit requests and supporting documentation.
• Perform accounting analysis and help maintain and improve accounting SOPs.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve accounting-related issues.
• Support additional accounting projects and analyses as needed.
