Job summary

Core-Mark is seeking a Senior Accountant to ensure transactions and consolidations are accurately reflected in the General Ledger in compliance with GAAP. The role also ensures SOX controls and reporting requirements for a public company are properly executed.

The position involves preparing month-end close journal entries, performing variance analyses, and supporting audits. Strong Excel, ERP experience, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting preferred.
• 4+ years of relevant accounting and/or reporting experience, with at least 2 years of month end close experience.
• Experience with medium/large ERP systems; SAP and/or Blackline experience preferred.
• Excellent Excel and analytical and complex spreadsheet skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review General Ledger Journal entries during the month-end close with proper documentation.
• Monthly review of financial results and variance analysis against goals and prior periods.
• Develop and maintain account analysis/reconciliation procedures in GAAP context.
• Month-end Balance Sheet review and issue resolution for assigned areas.
• Prepare schedules and reports in support of audits and regulatory requirements.
• Develop accounting procedures for new processes and communicate to users.
• Produce presentations for period-end financial reviews and respond to ad-hoc financial analyses.
• Assess financial implications of new business strategies.
