Job summary

Castelion is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage the month-end close, reconciliations, and reporting across multiple balance sheet accounts. You will support audits, drive process improvements, and collaborate with diverse teams to ensure accurate financials.

You will work in a fast-growing defense-focused startup environment, implement controls, and push automation while upholding U.S. GAAP standards. This role is on-site in Torrance, CA with a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 3+ years of public accounting experience with a nationally recognized firm.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606/842 and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience in month-end close activities and preparing financial reconciliations.
• Familiarity with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, and supporting schedules for cash, investments, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, leases, capitalized software, debt, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Perform monthly revenue, deferred revenue, and accounts receivable reconciliations with matching cash to invoices and reviewing contract balances.
• Own key components of the monthly financial close process and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
• Support AP activities including invoice review, payments, vendor reconciliations, and discrepancies.
• Assist with integrations between NetSuite and other systems and perform data validation and testing.
• Assist with technical accounting research and prepare workbooks for complex transactions to ensure U.S. GAAP compliance.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Facilities, Engineering, and FP&A to ensure accurate balances and cross-functional improvements.
• Contribute to scalable accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures.
