Job summary

OPAL Fuels, based in White Plains, NY, is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong U.S. GAAP expertise to support a multi-entity public company environment.

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the role focuses on financial close, reporting accuracy, internal controls, and operational accounting excellence. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of presenting well-reasoned recommendations across RNG-related transactions and group reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a public company or multi-entity corporate environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control best practices.
• Advanced Excel skills; proficiency with ERP/accounting systems. NetSuite is a strong plus.
• CPA track strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional coordination for 12 RNG entities as the primary accounting SME.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accruals, revenues, royalties journal entries and complex reconciliations.
• Prepare internal financial reporting packages for management and provide timely insights to management, operations teams and external stakeholders.
• Prepare external financial reporting package for joint venture partners and external stakeholders, ensuring timely compliance with contractual reporting requirements.
• Support construction cost accounting, including monitoring budgets vs. actuals, reviewing project cost allocations, and capitalization/close-out of construction projects.
• Coordinate with business leaders on contracts and deals from an accounting perspective.
